I have the iphone version (non HD not the new HD one) but I can never quite get past the touchscreen control, where as tapping the shift keys is more tactile and with better touch feedback. Personally I loved the original Amiga game and I think this is a very good take on it. Gamers new to the game might also like although there will no doubt be some complaints of there only being four tables. The music sounds like the original music (perhaps it is redone to sound like the original but it's years since I heard the original so it's hard to tell). The graphics in the 3d HD modes are good (if not a little dizzying at times), and the hi resolution versions of the orignal graphics are nice and sharp, and well done. This is a good port of the original game. There are the orignal four tables, with the Graveyard themed table my personal fave (and to which I posted the highest scores).

I wasted many an early morning prior to heading off to school playing this. This game will probably be most fun for the Amiga fans who had the original version. As it is, PD HD will surely remain as one of my favorite Mac games.

and maybe one day they'll even go for Pinball Illusions though that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Here's to hoping the Pinball Fantasies will receive a similar update down the line. That's about the only niggle I have with the game.Īll in all, Cowboy Rodeo did a superb job on updating this game yet again.

I only wished there was also a static full view for the classic camera all it'd take would be a little zooming out. While the angled view is nice, I'm grateful a classic top-down camera option was included as well as the tables lose some of their luster otherwise. For instance, I love the weathered look of the Steel Wheel board.

Pinball Dreams for iOS was one of the few reasons that pushed me towards the purchase of an iPod Touch some two years ago - along with some other exemplary games it has proven to me that iOS was a viable platform for gaming on-the-go - which has also remained one of my favorite games on that platform.Īnyway, this version plays just as well if not better thanks to keyboard controls (nudging via shaking will always remain awkward) and the tables received yet another facelift to bring out even more detail, while retaining their classic audio charm. Well, this release was certainly quite unexpected.
